Hypnotherapy FAQs

- What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation with focused concentration. Everyone experiences hypnosis at least twice a day -- waking up and falling asleep.
- Can everyone be hypnotized?
Yes, it is an altered state of consciousness. As long as a person is willing, she/he can be hypnotized.
- Do people go to to sleep or become unconscious?
No, one should not expect to go to sleep. Hypnosis is a very relaxed, hyper-aware state and the person is aware of the environment.
- Do people do things under hypnosis that are against their morals or values?
No, hypnosis cannot detach the ego. If a person were given a suggestion not in line with their own values or ethics, it would simply be ignored.
- Can a person's memory be erased?
No, generally people remember everything upon awakening. However, a post-hypnotic suggestion may be given to forget something if the client wishes.
